Love-A-Thon: Mash Up

Book_Blogger_Love-A-Thon_2014Is everyone ready for Day 2 of the LoveAThon? I know I am! So here we are again, faced with challenge number four: Mash-Up your bookish life with a non-bookish hobby/passion/talent you have in real life.

I have to say this one made me think really hard because it made my mind go crazy with all of the possibilities! I decided on using my love of singing. Here are five of my favorite songs that I think would go perfectly with certain books and the characters in that book.

I am in love with “Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran. When I was thinking about which book and characters this song fit with, I thought only of The Mortal Instruments Series. It made me think of Clary and Jace’s relationship. (Possible spoiler alert) How they’ve fallen for each other, but then find out they might be siblings. The book in particular I’m thinking of is City of Glass. There are just so many scenes where they are both longing for each other that this song would go perfectly with any of them.

I freaking love “Let It Go” from Frozen. I can listen to this song on repeat while I sing to it on the top of my lungs. It is such an emotional song that I could see it being a song Melinda from Speak would sing at the very end of the book. I’m not going to give anything away, but something she’s been holding in all year is revealed and she’s finally able to “let it go.” Not to mention what happened to her is emotional, which is another reason I think it fits perfectly with her story.

A song I fell in love with and I even have as my ring tone is “Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap. Listening to this song gave me a vision of Tarver and Lillic from These Broken Stars. I saw them trekking through the unknown planet they’ve landed on while they dance around their feelings for each other.

I’m throwing an old band I used to listen to into the mix, Mayday Parade. I seriously see Ron and Hermione at the Yule Ball in the Goblet of Fire when listening to “Miserable At Best.” I can see Hermione dancing with Victor Krum while Ron sits back watching them jealously as this song plays in the background. By the way, I will forever and always ship them!

Ok, so my final song I dedicate to Scarlet and Wolf in The Lunar Chronicles; “You’re The One That I Want” from Grease. Scarlet needs Wolf to not give into his animalistic desires and to be someone she can rely on. I just felt like this song fit their relationship perfectly. I think it especially fits in with the ending in Scarlet. No spoilers, but they have an intense moment before Cinder and Thorne show up.

Well there you have it. Some of my favorite songs I think could go with those books and characters. What do you guys think?

    • I didn’t even know you commented Alexa! I didn’t get notified, how weird. I’m so glad you enjoyed my song choices. I seriously want to see Wolf/Scarlet singing that song! lol I had so much fun doing the Love-A-Thon. A big thank you to you and Katelyn for putting it on. You girls are awesome! =)

  1. I’m also in love with that Ed Sheeran song! It’s been one of my favorites for the past couple months. “Let it Go” is also an amazing song that I’ve been listening to lately. Oh, and “Hide and Seek!” I keep forgetting the title for that one, but I absolutely love it! (I turned it on just now, so I’m listening to it as I write.) Great post!
